Do you live more than an hour away from our studios, which deters you from traveling to us for an evaluation and private instruction?

We now have a solution to the problem: webcam coaching.

There are several webcam devices now available, and we have tested one in particular which we have found to do the job very well.

Until recently, the only way to do private instruction over long distance was by telephone. This is far from being a natural setting for learning voiceover technique, since you are speaking into a telephone instrument containing a primitive carbon microphone. There is no sense of interaction within the room, and the playback quality is telephonically tinny.

The webcam system, on the other hand, offers many desirable features. You and the instructor hear each other on your respective computer speakers, in full-range audio.
The live video of the instructor that you see and the instructor’s video of you are full-frame, and very clear. The scenario is a faithful representation of a live one-on-one instruction session in the studio.

We can also help you set up a system to record each lesson on CD, so that you may work with it as a lesson aid, the same as we would record a live lesson in our studio.

Of course, when the time comes to record your demo, you will need to travel to the greater Washington or Tampa area for a couple of days to record, (this can be on a weekend, if you prefer) but that means one trip only.

This concept can work for students from almost any area in the US, particularly if you live near an airport served by Southwest Airlines, whose fares are notoriously inexpensive. (John flies Southwest every week between Washington and Tampa)
