9:00-9:50 am - Overview of the voiceover industry:
Where the business comes from, skills needed to do the job, the session dos and don’ts and how to give the producer what he or she wants. Discussion of basic marketing considerations. How the process of interpreting scripts is affected by language dynamics: In-depth discussion of sentence structure, the hierarchy of parts of speech, and how to analyze scripts for phrasing and proper emphasis.
10 minute break
10:00-10:50 - The Basics of Technique:
The how-to’s of microphone technique, explanation of intimate medium vs. projected medium, volume vs. emotional intensity, mood considerations, accuracy of the read, how to handle energy, how to breath for proper emphasis, energy, and endurance.

11:00-11:55 - Commercials-Critique Session:
How to approach commercial scripts. In-depth reading of commercial scripts by the students, one at a time, one-on-one with the instructor, who will give in-depth critique for the student and the class. This will include working with music tracks.
12:00-1:00 pm - Narrations-Critique Session:
Discussion of how narrations differ from commercials in interpretive treatment. Breakdown of categories of narration, and how to approach them, In-depth reading and critique of narration scripts by the students, one at a time, each working with the instructor one-on-one, who will critique each read for the student, as in the commercial session. Reading narrations against music tracks.
1:00-1:30 - Summary, questions and answers, and wrap-up of the day’s events.
